El 30 de enero de 1969 fue la
última aparición pública del grupo The Beatles en un concierto dado en la azotea del
edificio Apple Corps en la calle Savile Row en Londres.
Era una época difícil para
el Cuarteto de Liverpool, desavenencias
y problemas afectaban al grupo. Pocas semanas después de esta aparición la
banda se separó y sus integrantes siguieron sus carreras en solitario.

Constituida desde 1962 por John Lennon (guitarra rítmica,
vocalista), Paul McCartney (bajo, vocalista), George Harrison (guitarra
solista, vocalista) y Ringo Starr (batería, vocalista)
Con una carrera ascendente y exitosa , fueron galardonados con 7
premios Grammy y recibieron un total de
quince premios Ivor Novello de parte de la British Academy of Songwriters,
Composers and Authors. Se mantienen como el grupo con más números uno en las
listas británicas, más que cualquier otra
agrupación musical.

Inmersos en la grabación del álbum "Lei it be", los integrantes de
la banda estaban en su peor momento en cuanto a relaciones interpersonales,
distintas opiniones, la presencia de Yoko Ono en las grabaciones y otros
problemas que auguraban la desintegración del grupo.
Después de considerar diferentes locaciones, decidieron hacer el concierto en la azotea de Apple
Corps, empresa creada por ellos en 1968. Es nombrado popularmente como concierto
en la terraza, concierto en el tejado y concierto en Apple Corps.
A la hora del almuerzo del 30 de enero de 1969 comenzó el concierto
que solo duró 42 minutos, ya que se vio interrumpido por la policía de
Scotland Yard , quienes subieron al tejado y ordenaron parar el concierto.
